Aston Villa have big hopes for strikers Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Keinan Davis next season as the club look to promote youth following failure to win promotion last month.

That has left the club in a dire financial situation, with HMRC chasing unpaid tax bills and the club trying to control a huge wage bill.

Those issues, combined with FFP regulations, means big players are going to be sold this summer with Jack Grealish, Jonathan Kodjia and James Chester three of many who could go.

Bringing players in will be tough as the money raised will be needed to get the club back in decent financial shape, so Steve Bruce, or whoever is in charge, will have to look at the younger players to step up.

And, according to Birmingham Live, two of those players will be Hepburn-Murphy and Davis, who are both highly regarded at the club.

Davis is well known to Villa fans having broken into the team last season whereas Hepburn-Murphy has struggled with injuries that have restricted him to just a few senior appearances.

The Verdict

The one consolation for Villa supporters will be the fact the younger players should now get a chance in the team and there is a very talented group at Villa.

Two of the standout players are Hepburn-Murphy and Davis and they will need to step up next season but they have the ability to make an impact.

Senior additions will still be needed but Villa are right to focus on youth next season and these two are potential stars.
