‘Painful to watch,’ ‘Absolutely embarrassing’ – Many Barnsley fans react to Cardiff display

Valerien Ismael’s perfect start to life as Barnsley manager came to an abrupt end after his side were comfortably beaten by Cardiff City on Tuesday evening.
Ismael’s arrival had seen the Tykes’ Championship results improve dramatically – taking six points from the two home matches against Queens Park Rangers and then Watford on Saturday.
Those two victories had seen the South Yorkshire outfit climb up to 15th in the table, moving six clear of the relegation-zone.
But Barnsley managed just four shots on goal throughout the 90 minutes last night, and were facing an uphill battle from the moment Junior Hoilett’s close-range strike put the Bluebirds into a fourth-minute lead.
Joe Ralls’ goal in first-half stoppage-time doubled Cardiff’s lead and ensured the game was over as a contest, before Harry Wilson’s stunning late effort completed the scoring for Neil Harris’ men.
Whilst Tykes fans have been delighted with Ismael’s start to life at Oakwell, they were fuming with the performance of many of their players at the Cardiff City Stadium – and took to social media to express their anger.

Painful to watch
Schmidt, Miller and Vic shouldn’t be let anywhere near that first team bus

Time for a forward clear out in January. Miller, Schmidt, Thomas, VIc, Green at minimum. Bring in some actual decent forwards.

Tactics/strategy all wrong tneet. Playing long ball against Cardiff with Schmidt up top. We’ve got decent ball players, what’s going off? Smithies had his easiest game all season.

Horrific performance, put it behind us and prepare for Saturday – having an actual game plan might be a good start.
