Paddy Kenny insists that Slavisa Jokanovic would be a "sensational appointment" for Sheffield United.

The Blades remain on the lookout for a permanent replacement for Chris Wilder, who left his role as manager back in March.

Paul Heckingbottom has since been placed in caretaker charge, but he was unable to prevent the Blades from being relegated to the Championship.

But with their season fizzling out, United will now look to appoint a new manager as they prepare to bounce back at the first time of asking next term.

Football Insider recently broke the news that Slavisa Jokanovic had been interviewed for the vacant role at Bramall Lane, as he potentially looks to return to England and the Championship.

Jokanovic has won promotion twice before, guiding Watford to automatic promotion in 2014/15 and steering Fulham towards play-off success in 2018.

He's since moved to Qatar and become the manager Al-Gharafa, but has been heavily linked with the vacant role at Bramall Lane.

Speaking to Football Insider, Paddy Kenny insists it would be a "sensational appointment" for the Blades, saying: "He’d be a great appointment.

"He’s got a track record of promotion, so why not get him in? He’s got Fulham and Watford promoted in the past.

"That’s definitely the sort of manager Sheffield United need to bounce back, so it would be great for them. I think he’d be a sensational appointment."

The Verdict

I'm a big fan of Jokanovic and I'm surprised he hasn't returned to the Championship before now, if he gets the job of course.

The 52-year-old has won promotion twice before and has taken teams up playing an attractive brand of football.

For a United side who like to get defenders forward and play out from the back, that could make him a perfect fit.
