Leeds United fans have woken up this morning to the best news they could have hoped for, their talisman midfielder Pablo Hernandez has signed a new two-year contract with the club, keeping him at Elland Road until 2020.

In light of his decision he's released a passionate message on Twitter to the long-suffering supporters of Paul Heckingbottom's side, stating his aim for the next two seasons. His message, in full, is as follows:

"Thank you all the fans for the support over the last few years, I am very happy to sign a new contract with the club I try to help this club and the fans to go to the Premier League. This club, with its history and these fans, should be playing Premier League and I will give all of me in the next few years to help the team go to the Premier League"

Hernandez was the only player in the current squad without a deal for next season, but has perhaps been one of the most consistent performers for Leeds. He's got nine goals from 42 outings this season.

The Verdict

Sign a new deal, make a few fan friendly comments about the top flight and almost certainly cement yourself as a fan favourite for the rest of your Leeds time. It's been a good morning's work for Pablo Hernandez in the popularity stakes.

The Premier League is going to be a big ask next season, but the journey looks more likely with him on board than without. That alone should ensure the season ends on a high for Whites fans everywhere.
