Lanre Oyebanjo rejected York City’s new contract offer and signed a two-year deal with Crawley Town, the York Press is reporting.
24-year-old right back spent three years at Bootham Crescent and was named the Player of the Year last season. However, he wanted to be closer to his family in London and joined Jim Gregory’s Red Devils.
“We are obviously disappointed Lanre is not staying at York City,” said York City’s communications and community director Sophie Hicks.
“He had indicated to us that he had a desire to play in League One and that he also wished to move closer to his family in London, so it is not surprising he has opted for a move to Crawley Town.
“Lanre has been a great player and ambassador for York City Football Club and we sincerely wish him the very best for his future career and thank him for the great contribution he made during his three seasons at the club.”
