Oxford United are set to secure the signing of Fulham midfielder Ben Davis on Deadline Day, as per a recent report by The Athletic.

The 20-year-old midfield player is a graduate of the Fulham academy and has made one senior appearance to date for the West London side.

It is said that the U's have agreed a permanent deal to sign the Thailand youth international, with the Whites seemingly being open to letting their young prospect depart from Craven Cottage in search of regular football.

Davis had previously been a regular at under-23 level for the Sky Bet Championship side and will now be looking to further his development in a new environment.

The player originally moved to England from the Singapore Sports School and has since gone from strength to strength.

It is as yet unclear as to how much, if anything, Oxford are set to pay for the player to sign for them later today.

The Verdict

This would be a smart move for Oxford to make as they would be bringing in yet another young player who possesses great sell on potential at this current time.

He should slot nicely into Karl Robinson's first team squad and will be expected to fight for his place as he looks to transition from playing youth football to senior football.

Shrewd signings like this can pay off in the long run and the hope will be now at the Kassam Stadium that they have secured a player who could become a real gem over the next few years.

The deal is also unlikely to have cost the League One side much, which means this move ticks a lot of boxes for the ambitious third division outfit as they look to make another push for promotion this season after missing out in the previous campaign.
