According to Football Insider, Spanish club Malaga have made Oxford United manager Karl Robinson a candidate for the current managerial vacancy at the club.

The U's have had a very good campaign so far and look set to challenge at the top of the league for a chance to compete in the Championship next season.

Robinson has found a style of playing that suits his side, and they have been on a great run for a number of months which has seen them push into the League One top six.

The 39-year-old has also guided Oxford on various cup runs and beat Premier League side West Ham 4-0 in the Carabao Cup earlier this season. His side were eventually knocked out after giving Pep Guardiola's Manchester City a hard fought match.

Malaga are currently 16th in the Spanish Segunda division and will be hoping that any new manager can help them push away from the threat of relegation.

The Verdict

This really did come out of the blue, and would be a very interesting move for the manager should it materialise into anything more concrete.

Malaga are quite a well known club, not just in Spain, but across the world and it would give Robinson the opportunity to showcase his skills as a manager abroad.

However, he's currently looking to achieve an ambition of his own at Oxford and get them promoted to the Championship, so it would be surprising to see him move clubs half way through the campaign.
