Oxford United have signed former Fleetwood winger Junior Brown today.
The 25-year old midfielder terminated his deal with League One Fleetwood earlier today and has now penned a one-year deal at the Kassam Stadium.
Brown had played a large part in Fleetwood’s rise from the Conference to the Football League but had fallen out of favour under Cod Army boss Graham Alexander. In total, the midfielder made 106 appearances for Fleetwood in four seasons with the club.
Junior Brown ended last season on loan at League One Tranmere Rovers, scoring once in nine appearances, but could not save the club from relegation.
Speaking to Oxford United’s official website, Brown said: “I have enjoyed my time at Fleetwood but it is time for a new challenge and having spoken to Michael Appleton I think there is something special happening at Oxford which I would love to be part of.”
On Brown’s arrival, U’s manager Michael Appleton stated: “Junior is fast and direct and has an eye for goal. He is a player who I think will excite the fans and he will give us balance on that left hand side. He has had a pre-season and is fit and raring to go so he will go into the squad against Bournemouth on Saturday.”
