Sheffield Wednesday have an interest in Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy, despite only fairly recently appointing Jos Luhukay, according to the Daily Mail.

Would the Owls and Mick McCarthy be a good match?

We discuss....

Chris Gallagher

He would be, if they hadn't just appointed Jos Luhukay.

The Owls need to accept any manager would struggle at the minute with the ridiculous injury crisis.

Carlos Carvalhal has worked miracles with Swansea to prove he isn't a bad manager, whilst Luhukay obviously did something to impress them to get the job.

Unfortunately, this season is over, I still don't think they'll go down and they need to back their judgement - or look at themselves if they replace the new boss already.

Sam Preston

His honesty and simplicity might go down well at Hillsborough.

However, how will his style of football be received? He is very good at getting low-budget teams to over-achieve but could he take the Owls back into play-off contention? I'm not sure.

Also, while Jos Luhukay hasn't set the world alight since being appointed, he has had an awful injury crisis to deal with so we can't really judge his ideas yet.

George Dagless

Potentially.

Whether or not the fans would like it straight away is up for debate but he'd probably get some more fight out of the Owls' players.

He knows how to win promotion, too, and so if he could start on a good note he'd probably do well.

Alfie Burns

I think McCarthy could do well at Hillsborough, although Owls fans would not warm to him or warm to his style.

Wednesday’s supporters are demanding and were quick to turn on Carlos Carvalhal, which is something that McCarthy would be wary of.
