Owls defender admits poor opening spells costing team over 90 minutes

Sheffield Wednesday need to stop gifting the lead to the opposition in order to win games, according to an interview by Daniel Pudil with the Sheffield Star.

The Owls once again gave the lead away in the first half yesterday against Ipswich, and although they were able to recover to 1-1, they were punished in the end as The Tractor Boys ran out 2-1 winners at Hillsborough.

“We are giving ourselves too much to do by going behind in games. If you always go behind, it is hard to keep on coming back into games”, Pudil told the Star.

It was the 10th game this season that the Owls have given the lead away. On numerous occasions they have managed to wrestle back the game and take the 3 points, however it was not to be yesterday.

The defeat made it two losses on the spin to teams normally in and around the top six, after Derby County took all three points off them last weekend.

Wednesday have dropped to 10th in the Championship table now, with some fans calling for Carlos Carvalhal to make some serious changes going forward.

Owls fans, what do you think? What is costing you? Agree with Pudil? Let us know in the comments!
