Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton is closing in on a deal to join Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers on loan, before completing a permanent switch in January, as reported on Sky Sports.

Forest are widely reported to have accepted a fee in the region of £7m from Rovers for the academy graduate.

Rovers will be hoping 19-year-old Brereton will find the form that saw him score six goals in 39 appearances for Forest last season.

So is this good business for Tony Mowbray's Blackburn?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Good signing, yes. Value for money? I’m not convinced.

I think he’s come it over-priced and a little over-rated.

He’s young and will benefit from regular football and a change of environment, but £7m?

This is maybe the first signs of a panic but as the window closes.

George Dagless

Yes.

Brereton has the potential to become a good player and should get the chance to fulfil it at Blackburn.

Forest perhaps don't have the ability to do that with their options now but Rovers could well profit.

Jay Taylor

A good signing, if not a little expensive.

The £6million price-tag is a tad high but should be hit the ground running, then that price tag will start to be paid back pretty quickly.

The striker will have a job on getting ahead of Danny Graham, but the young Forest man has potential.

He will have an easier time to unlock at Blackburn with a chance to play in the first team more of a realistic goal than at the City ground.
