Swansea City suffered stoppage-time heartbreak against Fulham on Wednesday night as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against the Cottagers courtesy of Aleksandar Mitrovic's late header.

Mitrovic's 94th-minute winner came just six minutes after the striker had seen his penalty saved by Swansea goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, with the visitors having thought they had done enough to earn a valuable point after a solid display at Craven Cottage.

Swansea also had two penalty appeals of their own turned down by the referee in the second period, while the Welsh side produced a resolute defensive performance at the other end to earn plenty of plaudits for their showing in west London.

Swans boss Steve Cooper named an unchanged starting line-up following their 3-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday, and this saw homegrown duo Joe Rodon and Ben Cabango reprise their partnership at the heart of defence for the Liberty Stadium side.

The Welsh pair did well to fend off Fulham's incessant attacking advances in the opening period, while they performed an excellent job in limiting the threat of 22-goal frontman Mitrovic before the Serbian ruthlessly netted the winner at the death.
