Sheffield Wednesday picked up another important three points on Saturday, as they ran out 1-0 winners over Birmingham City.
Barry Bannan’s penalty proved to be the difference between the two sides on the day, as the Owls edged closer to being back in positive points.
Garry Monk’s side were deducted 12 points at the start of this year’s campaign for off-the-field issues, but are now on minus four points after two wins and a draw from their opening five matches this term.
One player that played a key role for the Owls in their win over Birmingham was Joost Van Aken, who made a crucial block towards the end of the match to keep the Blues out.
Van Aken spent last year’s campaign on loan with German side VfL Osnabrück, with his future at Hillsborough previously being up in the air.
But he seems to be making a positive impression with Sheffield Wednesday now, and will be keen to build on this strong performance.
Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday supporters took to social media to issue their thoughts on Van Aken’s impressive showing in the win over Birmingham City.
Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below….

Didn’t put a foot wrong today. Always been a player in him somewhere just written off early by some of our clueless fan base for a bad performance in his first couple of months in English football

Thought Van Aken was superb, Flint excellent on debut. Windass and Paterson working well together up top. Reach looking more like himself with each game. Positive signs. #swfc
