A late Matt Smith strike earned Millwall a crucial point on the road against promotion-chasing Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

Gary Rowett's men collected a confidence-boosting victory in the FA Cup at Boreham Wood on Saturday, but looked on course for a seventh Championship defeat of the campaign when Dominic Solanke fired the Cherries into a first-half advantage.

However, less than two minutes after his introduction, the striker converted from close-range following Jake Cooper's flick-on, to move the Lions seven points clear of danger.

But whilst it was Smith's late goal that proved decisive, the display of young right-back Danny McNamara has drawn plenty of praise from Millwall supporters.

Having been recalled from his successful loan spell in Scotland with St Johnstone during the first-half of the season, McNamara was then handed his Lions debut at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

But whilst many would have expected Mahlon Romeo to be recalled the Vitality Stadium, Rowett had other ideas, which saw the 22-year-old keep his place on what was his Championship debut, in which he managed more touches than any other Millwall player, according to Matchday 365.
