It's set to be an incredibly summer for Sunderland.

The Black Cats will be spending a fourth successive campaign in League One after falling short in the play-offs after a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Lincoln City in recent weeks.

However with a number of key players such as Lee Burge, Luke O'Nien, Max Power, Aiden McGeady and Charlie Wyke out of contract, it means that Lee Johnson could be gearing up for a busy summer in the transfer market.

Football League World exclusively revealed that goalkeeper Burge was attracting the interest of Middlesbrough, meaning that a new goalkeeper could be top of the list for the Wearsiders.

It least that was the case until Monday night's under-23 Premier League 2 Division 2 play-off final.

Sunderland took on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a contest that ultimately went the way of the Eagles after a penalty shootout defeat, but one man who really impressed was Anthony Patterson.

The young stopper has been incredibly impressive for Sunderland's development side this term, including two appearances in the Papa John's Trophy earlier in the season.

Supporters have been really impressed by the 21-year-old, and taking to Twitter, supporters were quick to express their excitement at how the goalkeeper is developing.
