Famara Diedhiou played a crucial role in the 3-2 win over Derby County as he netted one and caused the defence plenty of problems across the night.

The striker had a part to play in Bristol City's second goal when his powerful header from Niclas Eliasson's corner was cleared off the line and fell for Filip Benkovic to head home.

He then got his name on the scoresheet during the second half as he brought down Eliasson's cross at the back post and fired in with his left foot to make the score 3-0.

Martyn Waghorn and Chris Martin replied with goals for Derby but despite their relentless pressure for the final 10 minutes, Diedhiou had a golden opportunity to wrap the game up.

He was played through over the top by Ashley Williams and he had just the goalkeeper to beat. The striker attempted to be too cute with his finish however and he clipped his shot onto the outside of the post which dribbled out for a goalkick.

The striker was a handful up front all night, using his physicality and strength to hold the ball up when it was played into him, while he was also impressive when it came to defending set pieces."

Members of the Bristol City BS3 Facebook group have been discussing how they felt the forward fared when Derby came to town.

Here is the best reaction from Bristol City fans to Diedhiou's midweek performance...

Nigel Osmond: Outstanding effort as always. He’s been our best player for last 7 matches.

Lisa Thornhill: His best performance this season. His energy was fantastic. Put his body on the line and won us free kicks. Scored a goal and should have buried one at the death.

Kevin James Haskins: He’s bullying a lot of defenders now. I’ve noticed him pushing and winding them up.

Connor Ryan: Definitely think he has improved massively the last 5-10 games, also think him and Wells can bring the best out of each-other in terms of forming a partnership.

Matthew Weekes: Diedhiou puts a good shift in when attacking around the box, but very minimal effort when closing down/defending from the front.

Tim Knowles: He’s been pretty good all season and got better again in recent weeks especially away from home. I think it was only when he was suspended people started realising how important he is to the team.

Iain Timothy Gaskin: He needs to finish more of his chances but always gives 100%.
