Sunderland got their season off to the perfect start yesterday as they overcame Charlton Athletic at the Stadium of Light, running out 2-1 winners after initially falling behind.

Josh Maja got the Black Cats back into the game before a late winner from midfielder Lynden Gooch sent the home end into raptures in manager Jack Ross's first game in charge of the club.

Indeed, Gooch himself took to Twitter following the game to show his delight at the winner, and it really did appear nabbing the late winner meant everything to the midfielder.

Of course with Gooch being the man of the moment, plenty of Sunderland fans were on hand following the tweet from their main man to reply in kind to the midfielder.
