This weekend’s Yorkshire derby between Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday is evenly poised ahead of the meeting at the New York Stadium.

The Millers fell back into the bottom three in midweek after Reading’s win over Blackburn, and the Owls are snookered in the middle of the pack looking destined to stay there.

Wednesday earned a point on the road at Millwall in a goalless draw, with the Millers coming back from 2-0 down to leave the KCOM with a share of the spoils.

Paul Warne’s men have drawn their last three in a row but have not won in six.

The Owls, meanwhile, are unbeaten in four matches – three with Bruce in charge – and are yet to concede a goal, despite only scoring once.

Ahead of the match, Sky Sports enlisted the guesswork of David Prutton as he offered his thoughts on the outcome of this particular fixture.

The pundit said:

“Rotherham looked down and out at Hull in midweek, but they rallied superbly in the second half and could easily have claimed all three points.

“Paul Warne's side may not be the most talented, but they have exceptional fight and spirit.

“It's three unbeaten for Steve Bruce at Sheffield Wednesday.

“They have only scored one goal in that time, but he looks to have fixed a defence that was leaking goals at an alarming rate earlier in the season.

“I fancy them to sneak this one, 0-1.”

The verdict

Steve Bruce has certainly improved Sheffield Wednesday defensively, but the goals are not flowing for the Owls.

Rotherham don't score many either and are prone to leaking a few themselves.

So, consider this to be one of the lowest scoring games of the weekend.

I agree with David Prutton; I also think this will end in a 1-0 win for Sheffield Wednesday.
