MK Dons’ on loan Norwich City midfielder Louis Thompson is facing several months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, manager Russell Martin has revealed.
Thompson re-joined the Dons on a season-long loan back in the summer transfer window, having spent the second-half of the 2019/20 campaign with the League One club.
The midfielder has made nine appearances in all competitions for Martin’s side, but was forced off late on in the club’s 2-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday with an apparent hamstring injury, and it now seems as though that has left the 25-year-old facing a long spell on the sidelines.
Providing an update on the injury suffered by Thompson, Martin told The Milton Keynes Citizen: “It was disappointing to lose Louis for a while now.
“It’s what we feared. Hopefully, we’ll find out a bit more at the end of the week when he sees a specialist to find out a timescale.”
Discussing exactly how long it could be before Thompson is back in action, Martin went on to add: “We hope to have him back before the end of the season, he’s not completely ruled out.
“But I don’t think it’s this side of Christmas, maybe January or February so he can play a part in the end of the season.”
