One of the reasons the Championship is so great is that we simply have no idea what is going to happen, week in, week out.
Each year there are certain expectations weighed upon each side based upon their summer recruitment and last season’s finish, but teams will either exceed these expectations or underperform – very rarely does a side perform as expected, but which club has underperformed most this season?
QPR fell down to the Championship last season with the expectation that they’d go straight back up, especially after keeping star man Charlie Austin, but after a resounding 3-1 defeat to Fulham over the weekend, they sit 14th in the table, 12 points off the play-offs.
Reading had a disappointing season last year, but after a summer of strong signings, they looked set for a push back to the Premier League. They did look set to do that, but after a 4-2 defeat to Fulham earlier in the season, they stumbled and still are, sitting in 15th.
Wolves only just missed out on the play-offs last year, but after letting star man Bakary Sako join Crystal Palace for free, they’ve struggled and looked unconvincing even when winning, and with Benik Afobe sold, they may struggle further.
Fulham also had a poor season last year after being relegated the year before, but made some decent additions over the summer in an attempt to move back up to the top-flight, sitting 18th in the table.
