Bolton have confirmed that former Watford owner Laurence Bassini will be the club's new owner after agreeing a deal with Ken Anderson for the Championship strugglers.

Confirmation is expected once the deal has been approved by the EFL and a club statement revealed that would lead to all outstanding debts to HMRC and suppliers being paid.

As well as that, the squad will receive their wages for March, which still haven't been paid under the outgoing chairman.

Anderson is understandably a very unpopular figure with Trotters supporters for his role in the club's demise, so the fact he is now moving on would normally be greeted with positivity and optimism.

However, Bassini is another controversial figure and has twice been declared bankrupt and is not fondly remembered at Vicarage Road.

So, there was a fair degree of scepticism among the fans after the news was announced this afternoon.
