Out-of-favour Premier League player on the radar of Sunderland

Published

Sunderland are weighing up a move to bring Burnley winger, Scott Arfield, to the Stadium of Light, according to the Daily Mail.

The Canadian international has fallen out of favour at Turf Moor this season since the arrivals of Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady, and he now finds himself fourth in the pecking order for a starting spot out-wide.

The Black Cats’ fierce rivals, Newcastle, also hold an interest in Arfield, which could set up a fascinating battle to see who lands the tough tackling winger.

Arfield is a serial winner at Championship level, as he played a key role in Burnley’s promotions in 2013/14 and 15/16, netting close to double figures in each season.

The Scottish born winger also comes with an ounce of flexibility, with the ability to also play in centre midfield, although his best performances have come whilst playing on the wing.

Sunderland fans… Would you like to see Arfield sign for Sunderland? What do you think he would bring to your team? Let us know your thoughts below!
