Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga is hoping a break from club football can do him the world of good as he looks to get back amongst the goals when he returns from making his first appearance for DR Congo this weekend.

In a report and interview by the Northern Echo, the former Forest and Peterbrough striker has been speaking about achieving 'maximum results' for his club side, after being somewhat frozen out by manager Tony Pulis of late.

Assombalonga is hoping the decision to play in the friendly with Congo and get some game time under his belt will lead to Pulis putting more faith in him, with the manager opting to play Patrick Bamford of late as the lone striker as Assombalonga has struggled for goals.

Bamford has hit form though, and a route back into the side for 'Britt' seems a long way off, having not scored since Boxing Day and falling behind the former Chelsea man in the pecking order.

However, Assombalonga will not be giving up and seems to be reinvigorated by his decision to play international football. Boro will and be hoping he can bring that mood and hopefully with it some goals, as they look to secure a top six finish in the Championship run in.

Boro fans, what do you think of this? Good news for the club? Let us know in the comments!
