Charlton Athletic owner Thomas Sandgaard has told fans that "there is no need to worry" despite ongoing off-field uncertainty, which has drawn an excited reaction from fans of the south London club.

Reports over the weekend indicated that Sandgaard has been issued with a notice to leave the club over a debate concerning the validity of his takeover.

The Danish businessman became Charlton's new owner through a deal with former East Street Investments majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer back in September.

However, there remains uncertainty as Paul Elliott, who has been granted ownership of ESI, has argued that a court injunction prohibited the sale.

Elliott has told the BBC that he reserves his right to assert his legal ownership of the club.

Sandgaard broke his silence on the issue yesterday by taking to Twitter to announce that he'd just spoken to talkSPORT's Jim White to confirm that "there is no need to worry".

On the pitch, Lee Bowyer's side have been much improved since the takeover and are now fourth in League One with games in hand over the side above them.
