Sunderland gifted MK Dons a first away win for 14 months after being defeated 2-1 at the Stadium of Light yesterday.

Scott Fraser's penalty saw the Black Cats succumb to a loss for the third straight game in all competitions, and fans have been sending out the distress signals on social media.

There seems to be absolutely no-one exempt from criticism at the minute, and manager Phil Parkinson is getting the most of it for some of his tactical choices.

And some supporters believe that one man needs to be brought back into the fold after being made an outcast - and that is Aiden McGeady.

McGeady was a key figure for Sunderland when Jack Ross was in charge, and was one of the best players in League One in the 2018/19 season.

However not long after Parkinson arrived, the Irish winger was told he has no future at the club, and he was banished from the first-team squad, subsequently securing a loan move to Charlton Athletic in the division above in the January transfer window.

A recall to the first team doesn't seem very likely at all, as Parkinson said a few weeks ago that he would rather see promising youngster Elliot Embleton progress into the first team instead - whilst also saying that McGeady currently has a knee issue anyway and is out of action.

It hasn't stopped fans pining for his recall on Twitter though - check out some of the responses that called for his return.
