O’Toole poised to sign for Northampton

Pete O’Rourke has reported on his Twitter page that ex Bristol Rovers man John-Joe O’Toole is close to signing for Northampton.

O’Toole has been linked to a number of clubs since Bristol Rovers relegation into the Skrill Premier including a few League One clubs, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield to name two but it looks like Northampton have won the battle to sign him if O’Rourke’s reports are anything to go by. O’Toole is a 25 year old midfielder who started his career at Watford making 57 appearances and scoring 10 goals between 2007-2010 for the Hornets.

Following a loan spell to Colchester United the club made O’Toole’s transfer permanent on the 1st of January 2010. Between 2010-13 O’Toole made 55 appearances scoring one goal for Colchester. O’Toole then signed for Bristol Rovers for the 2013-14 season making 41 appearances and scoring 13 goals. Ultimately O’Toole’s efforts were in vain as Rovers were relegated at the end of the season.

O’Toole looks likely to link up with Chris Wilder at Northampton and join Wilder’s three new recruits: Zander Diamond, Kaid Mohamed and Marc Richards, at the Sixfields.
