Sheffield Wednesday defender Osaze Urhoghide has said that it was 'a dream come true' to make his Owls debut in the FA Cup victory over Brighton on Saturday.

Having been released by AFC Wimbledon in the summer, Urhoghide was left struggling to find a club but after a successful trial, Sheffield Wednesday offered him the opportunity to stay on and now he's competing on the first-team stage.

The defender was outstanding on the weekend and the 19-year-old will be hoping that this is the first of many appearances for the side as he looks to make a name for himself.

After the 1-0 victory, Urhoghide stated that this is just the beginning and that he's not going to let this opportunity get to his head.

Speaking to the Western Telegraph, Urhoghide said: "What a stage to make my debut. I’m so happy. The hard work I have put in, people don’t understand what I’ve been through

“It’s just great, to get the win, clean sheet, it’s just a dream come true.

“I’m not going to let this get to my head, it’s just a first."

The Verdict

What a fantastic way to make your debut, and what a brilliant victory for the Owls. They'll be delighted to have beaten a Premier League side and Garry Monk would have been buoyant having seen the way they performed.

Urhoghide has to take immense confidence from this, and he could well go on and have a quite brilliant future at the club, especially with the support he's been getting.

It really was a magical moment, and despite teams making changes, you can still get fairytale FA Cup moments such as this one.
