Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has sent a passionate message to his teammates on social media after the record-breaking win over Millwall.

Villa extended their winning run to ten consecutive matches with a hard-fought 1-0 win over The Lions at Villa Park on Monday afternoon, breaking a club record that has stood since 1910.

Jonathan Kodjia's first-half strike was enough for the three points, as Villa cemented their position in the Championship play-offs with a historic win.

Nyland is ruled out for the rest of the season through injury, but congratulated his teammates on their record-breaking victory with this message on Twitter.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper suffered a ruptured Achilles injury in training on December 30 and has missed the last four months of the season.

Villa are now fifth in the Championship table and are guaranteed to finish the season in the play-offs. Dean Smith's side face Leeds United and Norwich City in their final two matches of the regular season.

The Verdict:

This is top stuff from Nyland. It has been a difficult few months for the goalkeeper, who has been forced to watch his teammates make history from the sidelines as he works his way back from injury.

Villa have been unstoppable in the Championship over the last few weeks and Nyland is right to congratulate his teammates, who deserve tremendous credit for what they have been able to achieve.

The goalkeeper will be hoping that Villa can carry this momentum into the play-offs and if they can, they stand every chance of ending the season with promotion.
