Leyton Orient are considering offering a contract to former Arsenal striker Jay Simpson, according to Sky Sports.
The 25 year-old spent last season in the Thailand with Buriram United but after just two goals in 22 appearances he agreed to end his deal with the club. Simpson has since spent the summer looking for a move back into England but has yet to find a club.
Simpson came through the academy at Arsenal but failed to make a league appearance for the Gunners. The striker spent time out on loan with Millwall, West Brom and QPR before signing for Hull City in 2010. However Simpson struggled for form with the Tigers and managed 12 goals in 78 appearances before being released by the club last summer.
Leyton Orient have recently been bolstered by the takeover of Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti. The O’s have picked up former Championship players in Bradley Pritchard, Shane Lowry and Jobi McAnuff in the transfer market and are now mulling over a contract offer for Jay Simpson.
