The former Everton winger, who has most recently played in Sweden for AFC United, played the second half for Steve Davis’ men and was causing all sorts of problems for the recently promoted North West Counties Premier Divsion side.

Crewe took a 3-0 lead into the half time interval thanks to goals from Mathias Pogba, Anthony Grant and Bradden Inman.

New signing Scott Shearer kept a clean sheet in his first outing in a Crewe shirt before Davis made nine changes at the break.

Orenuga was joined by a fellow unnamed trialist who was playing in a central midfield role.

Formally of Southend, Everton and Notts County, 21-year-old Orenuga was showing great speed on the ball and he was brought down in the penalty area.

He dispatched his spot-kick perfectly to leave his mark on the game for fans and coaching staff alike.

The game was also a good chance for Crewe Alex fans to get their first glimpse of some of the first-year professionals who have joined the senior set-up over the summer months.

Right-back James Baillie played a full 90 minutes with captain Matt Tootle not involved due to an ankle injury.

Perry Ng, James Jones, George Cooper and Callum Saunders all played in the second half and forward Callum Pritchard-Ellis was given the final 20 minutes in front of a crowd just shy of 400.
