After leaving Turkish side Akhisar Belediyespor in the summer, Ricardo Vaz Tê has since been without a club.

This is something many people may find extraordinary, given that the 29 year-old was a big part of West Ham's promotion back to the promised land of the Premier League, where he scored an impressive 24 goals in the 2011/12 season for Barnsley and West Ham respectively.

Very much a proven Championship goal scorer, Vaz Tê was on trial at Bournemouth and West Ham earlier in the season however the Premier League pair didn't decide to offer the striker a deal.

Vaz Tê today has joined Sky Bet Championship outfit Charlton Athletic, and the Portuguese forward trained with his new team-mates earlier today, it's likely that may feature at some point in the upcoming fixture against Birmingham after the international break ends.

For Charlton, the signing is surely a welcoming addition to the already injury-ridden squad. Although claiming their first win on the weekend, the Addicks were suffering a 12 game winless run.

To get Charlton out of the dreaded relegation zone, goals really are needed, and Vaz Tê certainly doesn't have the worst CV for providing goals in the Championship.

If Vaz Tê can regain his match fitness and get back onto the football pitch and live up to his previous record, the frustrating and underwhelming season Charlton are enduring can be turned around completely.
