Last season Wolves were one of the most feared teams in the division with there excellent frontline of Bakary Sako, Nouha Dicko and Benik Afobe terrorising defences and scoring a bagful of goals.
Kevin McDonald was a reliable source of key passes from the midfield whilst Batth, Stearman, Iorfa and Golborne were one of the meanest defences in the division.
Manager Kenny Jackett was praised for how his team played last season where they just missed out on the play-offs but this season it’s a different story, with Wolves floundering in the bottom half and many fans not only criticising Jackett but the ownership. So what has happened to Wolves?
Well the problem is obvious by merely reading the first sentence of the article, their fearsome attacking trio no longer remains a trio.
Sako’s excessive wage demands led to him leaving for Crystal Palace, Dicko picked up a lengthy spell on the sidelines for nine months after a cruciate ligament injury.
These injuries have left Wolves seriously short of options up front but Jackett acted and brought in reliant frontman Adam Le Fondre as well as young Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool.
Wolves were able to keep Afobe but whilst he hasn’t struggled for form this season, Le Fondre and Ojo have. Van La Parra has also been disappointing but overall in front of goal, Wolves have been fairly potent.
Their big problem comes in defence where they have shipped a massive 22 goals this season, one of the leakiest defences in the league.
The defence is nearly the same but Richard Stearman’s loss to Fulham may be the major reason for Wolves defence being shaky, as well as Batth and Iorfa not being in form at all.
With Hause out injured, Wolves will find themselves even more short at the back and as the bad results accumulate the pressure will mount on Jackett and the ownership.
So what do you think Wolves fans What is your main problem this season? How do you think you’ll do ? Do you stick by Jackett and the owners ? Leave thoughts and opinions below!
