West Brom are reportedly interested in signing former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Adam Reach, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Baggies will be looking to win promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking this term, whilst under the new management of Valerien Ismael.

Nixon has revealed that Reach has been on trial with the Baggies, and Blackburn Rovers are also reportedly keen on striking a deal to land his signature this summer.

Reach made 230 appearances in total for Sheffield Wednesday, which included 49 in their 2020/21 season, as they were relegated into League One.

As Darren Moore's side prepared for life in the third tier of English football, Reach was one of those to depart when his contract reached a conclusion at the end of last year's league campaign.

The 28-year-old has shown glimpses of his quality, with some stunning strikes from distance over the years that haven't gone unnoticed.

But Reach hasn't been at his best on a consistent basis, with the midfielder having an average Whoscored rating of 6.61, which put him tenth on the list for Sheffield Wednesday's squad last term, as they were relegated into League One after a disappointing season on and off the pitch.

With six goals and four assists to his name from the 2020/21 season, West Brom wouldn't exactly be getting a player that is in a good run of form, which makes it somewhat of a surprise that Valerien Ismael's side are keeping tabs on the former Sheffield Wednesday man this summer.

West Brom already have strong options out wide heading into the 2021/22 campaign, with both Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira showing that they're more than capable of performing to a high standard in the second-tier of English football not so long ago.

Pereira in particular has caught the eye for the Baggies, since signing for the club back in 2020 from Sporting CP. The Brazilian midfielder was on hand to provide 20 assists in his debut season with West Brom, which certainly makes for impressive reading.

So, West Brom already have much better options available to them, and some of the club's supporters might rather see a younger player from their academy given a chance to impress on a rotational basis, instead of Reach, who is on reported wages of £23,000 according to Salary Sport.

Those wages could be better spent elsewhere on other areas of Ismael's squad this summer, as they look to win promotion back into the Premier League.
