Garry Monk has rejuvenated Leeds this season, guiding them to 9th place so far and he will have his eye firmly on the play-offs.

Leeds have a decent starting eleven but beyond that, their squad looks a bit thin. Obviously, they do have players to step in should injuries hit but the quality of what they will bring in won't be as good as their strongest starting eleven.

This is something that Monk needs to address in January if Leeds are to give themselves the best possible chance of making the play offs. If Monk can convince Cellino that Leeds are serious contenders then he will probably dip his hand into his pocket and get his wallet out, sensing a huge Premier League pay day.

Strength in depth is a huge factor in The Championship, the teams who finish in the top places are usually the ones with the strongest squads. If an injury crisis hit Leeds today, they would struggle to keep their form up, with the players Monk would have to bring in, not of a good enough standard.

Leeds should look to reinforce key areas of the pitch. Up front is a great example of where they should look for new signings. They have Marcus Antonsson waiting in the wings for a chance to play but if he was to get injured, who else would Leeds have to step up? They could use Doukara, but is he of a good enough standard to be a huge threat? Probably not.

I doubt Monk will be asking Cellino to go out and spend millions of pounds, even a Premier League striker on loan would do the job. They just need someone to come in and bulk up their squad ahead of the run in. This doesn't just go for the striker position, this is similar all over the pitch for Leeds, with them lacking real strength in depth.

If Leeds don't reinforce in January their chances of getting a play off spot will be severely hit. I would expect the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City to strengthen significantly in January and they will probably have to much for Leeds if they don't improve the squad. Not forgetting Aston Villa, who will no doubt be in the play off mix come the end of the season with Steve Bruce in charge and their squad is already unbelievably strong.
