During last weekend's fixture between Wolves v Watford, which finished 2-2, a very debatable red card was shown to Bakary Sako of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Forestieri has signed for Wednesday
Should Forestieri be punished?

The game had already been a thriller, in which Watford saw their team go down twice, and come back twice. In the 92nd minute Tommie Hoban was shown a second yellow and sent off.

However, the drama was only just starting. In the 93rd minute the Watford winger Fernando Forestieri brought down Bakary Sako near the halfway line. Once he had got up, he did not like the challenge whatsoever.

Forestieri raised his hands as if to say 'I'm innocent', however the challenge was far from this. Once Sako got up and on his feet, he approached the Argentinian in a very intrusive manner.

Forestieri pushed Sako in the chest, and then Sako reacted by pushing him back. However, Forestieri went down like a sniper had shot him. The Watford winger went to ground holding his face, whereas the push was to his chest and abdomen area.

Whilst Forestieri was still on the floor clutching his face, referee Brendan Malone rushed over and had already made up his mind. Sako was shown a straight red. The Wolves players let their disgust be known on the pitch by attempting to talk the referee around, but Malone did not want to reason with them.

The Wolves fans and players will know that Sako did not mean any harm, as this is his first red card in English football. However, what do you expect him to do after the challenge and reaction from Forestieri? In my eyes the red card was a poor decision by the referee.

The Wolves board have openly said that they are going to appeal as Wolves manager Kenny Jackett said to Express and Star: "From Forestieri’s point of view, it’s embarrassing and poor to throw yourself to the floor like that and get another professional sent off. "From Forestieri’s point of view, it’s embarrassing and poor to throw yourself to the floor like that and get another professional sent off." Which is completely true.
