Following the recent reports surrounding Cardiff fans boycotting their away game against Leeds United, it has raised the question: ‘should we be seeing away fans back in the Cheese Wedge again?’

Should the away end at Elland Road move?
Should the away end at Elland Road move?

For those that don’t know, the Cheese Wedge is a yellow triangular section in the East corner of the South Stand and it was originally built to accommodate for the away supporters.

It was brilliant as it created a unique atmosphere with the visiting fans in and amongst the home fans.

But now they are tucked away in the prestigious West Stand, which is where the executive seats are placed.

This has made it incredibly expensive for travelling fans, which has seen a drop in visiting spectators, and this has subsequently led to a decline in the atmosphere.

Because not only is there less travelling fans but also they are tucked away on the side of pitch.

The man who made the decision to relocate the opposition’s supporters was Simon Grayson, who said he wanted Leeds fans behind both goals.

But Neil Warnock was quick to have his say on the matter when he became boss and his argument was, he would prefer to see the away fans back in the Cheese Wedge.

This is a big discussion and one that fans feel strongly about, with one argument saying it is against tradition to misuse the Cheese Wedge, whilst some believe it is best having Leeds fans in both the North and South stand.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a very niggling issue, but it is something the club need to address as not only will it boost the atmosphere but also the club's revenue.
