Despite his heroics of last season, SPL club Rangers are reportedly keen to offload striker Martyn Waghorn for just £400k.

It is looking incredibly more likely that the striker will leave the Scottish club, with the Sun reporting that Waghorn has been distasteful towards Rangers following their refusal to offer the striker a higher salary.

The striker has been weighing up his options, with clubs across the football league thought to be keen on Rangers' top scorer from last season.

Rangers could look to sell off the striker quickly, in order to get a replacement in early in the January window with a fee of £400,000 being reported as the figure that Waghorn will be sold at.

Championship clubs Fulham and Bristol City have both shown interest in the striker, but could this be an ideal signing for a League One side?

Sheffield United are the second top scorers in League One this season, but the signature of Waghorn could bolster their attack even further.

Sheffield United already have Billy Sharp, who has scored eleven goals in all competitions this season.

By signing a player like Martyn Waghorn it would be sending a frightening message to the rest of League One.

However Waghorn has been completely off-form this season, and has yet to net since September.

But nothing should be taken away from his form of last season - finishing top scorer on 28 as Rangers were promoted back to the Scottish Premier League.

If Sheffield United do capture the Rangers striker it could mean promotion is a certainty, and he could form a lethal partnership with fellow striker Billy Sharp.

What do you think Sheffield United fans? Is this the sort of signing you need to be making? Would you be satisfied with the signing of Martyn Waghorn, or do you think the squad already has enough depth?
