Blackburn Rovers could lose young winger Connor Mahoney in the summer and Nottingham Forest ought to be ready to snap him up for a cut price fee.

The Sun are reporting that Connor Mahoney is hesitating to sign a new deal which Blackburn have offered to him.

This is thought to be in the region of £3,000 and it is unclear whether his refusal is down to the wages or down to seeing if Blackburn stay up before committing his future.

Mahoney might leave Ewood Park in the summer for a small compensation fee and this minimal price is worth the risk for a team like Nottingham Forest if they can secure their survival.

Forest's survival would likely be at the expense of Blackburn (or Bristol City) and Mahoney might fancy staying with a Championship club.

The talented 20-year-old has plenty of skill, balance and agility to make him a future hit and he is already showing glimpses of his potential with some impressive substitute cameos.

The young winger would also benefit from Nottingham Forest's policy of promoting youth.

The likes of Matty Cash, Joe Worrall, Ben Osborn and Ben Brereton are currently starring in the first team and Mahoney could be the next big thing at Forest if he joins.

Mark Warburton needs to take a look at the exciting and tricky wide man as he will probably be in high demand this summer.
