After another dramatic final day in the Championship, Bournemouth moved above Watford to take the Championship title thanks to Sheffield Wednesday's late equaliser at Vicarage Road.

Brentford and Ipswich extended their season by finishing fifth and sixth respectively, both helped by a shock 3-0 win at Derby for Reading.

Norwich City and Middlesbrough make up the rest of the top six, all of which are just three games away from the Premier League.

The play-offs begin on Friday when Middlesbrough make the long trip down to Brentford before the return leg the following week.

Middlesbrough fell away from the automatic promotion places after losing 4-3 to Fulham before they drew 0-0 with Brighton on the final day.

Despite Brentford finding themselves below Middlesbrough both in the League table and the form table, the Bees are coming into the play-offs with confidence after winning their last two fixtures.

For this reason, and for the fact that the players will want to do it for the departing Mark Warburton, I can see the Bees brushing aside Middlesbrough to get to Wembley.

Even if this doesn't happen and the Middlesbrough attacking force proves too strong fans of the West London club can celebrate a fantastic season for their first year in the Championship.

The other playoff semi-final is perhaps the more interesting of the two.

Ipswich Town host bitter rivals Norwich on Saturday before travelling to Carrow Road the following weekend in potentially one of the most exciting play-off ties in recent Football League history.

Sadly for the blue side of this historic rivalry, most football fans will probably be predicting the Canaries to be the side that makes the trip to Wembley.

Norwich sit third in the League table and the form table whereas Ipswich sit sixth in both tables.

City have Premier League experience in their side as well as many players who have been promoted from the Championship before and although it may be dangerous attempting to predict a rivalry, Norwich will certainly be favourites.
