There has been an increasing level of transfer speculation surrounding the future of Ismaila Sarr this summer.

The Watford forward was a standout player for the Hornets during their doomed Premier League campaign last season.

In a squad packed with rich attacking talent, it was difficult not to see that players were being hamstrung by poor managerial choices and decisions.

But after only two games under Rob Edwards in the Championship, it is now clear to any keen observer that the Senegal international is supremely talented.

His wonderful goal in the first half of Monday night’s clash against West Brom is proof that he is a super talented individual.

The strike brought back memories of David Beckham against Wimbledon in the 1990’s as he lobbed the ball over David Button from the halfway line, with the keeper unable to scramble back to his goal line in time to make the save.

It captured the imagination and was easily the biggest highlight of the game and perhaps the weekend’s second division action.

However, these kinds of performances will only garner even more attention from clubs like West Ham and Leeds United, who have been monitoring the player’s situation throughout the transfer window.

It has been suggested that Watford have placed a £30 million asking price on the Hornets’ forward.

While Sarr may eventually push for a move, the club should remain firm in their stance that it will take a considerable sum in order to part ways with the 24-year old.

That Emmanuel Dennis is also at the club and is another sellable asset further strengthens Watford’s position in the transfer market.

The pair are more than capable of competing in the top flight, and proved as much just last season.

But they could also be a launchpad to bring the team straight back up this campaign.

Selling both at this stage of the window would leave Watford scrambling to find a replacement, which could leave the team in a much worse position going into September’s deadline.

It would be more than worthwhile for Watford to risk missing out on reasonable transfer fees in order to keep Sarr and Dennis if it meant the pair powered Edwards’ side to a much more lucrative promotion.
