History is repeating itself again at Elland Road with another player being blamed for not signing a new contract with Leeds United.

Could Sam Byram be moving to West Ham this month?
Sam Byram rejected a new deal at Leeds United

Although it's already been in the news a while, Massimo Cellino has again claimed that the club have no fault in the current (or not so current) contract negotiations with Sam Byram.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds yesterday, the enigmatic owner said that the current issue with contract talks is nothing to do with the financial side.

As the rumour goes, Byram was offered a decrease in wage to extend his deal at Elland Road and like any sound-minded person would do, told Cellino to stick it.

Many of the Leeds United faithful would have made the same reaction if offered the same deal, no matter how much they love the club and that's why they have rightly stood by the talented right back through this period.

The simple fact is that if Cellino says that money is no issue and that he has the best interests in his heart, then why not offer Byram an increased contract or even the same wage and secure one of the best talents to come out of the academy in years, for any other chairman it would be a no brainer.

It's not the first time a player who has starred for the club and then been chastised as he ends his current contract. Howson, Becchio and Beckford all faced the same process during the end of their time at Leeds and some Leeds fans are too blind to see that it's happening again.

Mr Cellino, if you're reading this whilst chain smoking, yes I am one of them bad watermelons that keep you and Terry up at night.

I see the glitz and the glamour of our transfer buys this summer but I also know that we Leeds fans don't take well to you messing with one of our own.

It's not too late for you to sort things out with Byram, but know that the banging on the chest and saying you love the club means nothing if you can't show support for the lads who are born Leeds.
