Derby County enjoyed a fantastic 3-2 victory over Championship rivals Wolves at Molineux last Saturday but the victory came at a cost.

Cyrus Christie, McClaren's first choice right back, came off injured and confirmed on his personal Twitter account that he will miss a "minimum of 3 months" with a suspected fractured bone in his right foot.

This will come as a huge blow to Steve McClaren as the 24-year-old was a big part of his plans with Derby County.

The former Coventry right back is the only recognised natural right back at the club so McClaren will be forced into playing someone out of position until the January transfer window opens.

Quite frankly that is too long to wait and could prove to be costly for the Rams, who are just starting to pick up their form after a poor start.

McClaren could look into the free agent market instead and here are two right backs he could look to bring in to cover for the injured Republic of Ireland international.

Abdoulaye Bamba

Abdoulaye Bamba is an interesting option for Derby to explore with the experienced right back being available on a free at the moment.

The 26-year-old former Juventus trainee ended a six-year spell at Dijon in the summer, having made over 150 appearances for the French club.

Bamba also made his Ivory Coast debut in a 0-0 draw with Hungary earlier this year but he also holds a French passport so a work permit would not be an issue.

Joey O'Brien is still without a club after leaving West Ham at the end of the 2015/16 season.

The Irishman is comfortable at both right back and left back so he would provide excellent cover for Christie.

The 29-year-old is not the most spectacular or exciting of players but he has a lot of experience and will always give his all to the cause.
