Mason began his career with his home town club Plymouth Argyle, where he made a total of 53 Football League appearances, prior to making the switch to South Wales, where he enjoyed an impressive first season under Malky Mackay’s Cardiff scoring a total of 12 goals, which enabled the 24-year-old to quickly become a fan favourite.

Mason’s most remembered goal for the South Wales club came in the Capital One cup final at Wembley Stadium against Liverpool, which put Cardiff ahead.

Mason also scored six goals during Cardiff City’s promotion winning campaign, before being shipped out to Bolton Wanderers on three separate occasions in two years on loan, scoring 10 goals in the process.

Now though Mason’s time in South Wales has come to an end following his January transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, who were looking to replace Benik Afobe, after he left to join Premier League new boys Bournemouth.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, described the sale of Mason as ‘’Good Business’’ and since arriving at the Molineux, the 24-year-old has hit the ground running after playing twice and scoring on both occasions, including a debut goal in a draw with Bolton Wanderers and in the win over Preston.

The question now however is, can Joe Mason fire Kenny Jackett’s side to promotion or at least a top-six place this season? And judging from the start Mason has made at the club, Wolves fans could be optimistic that Mason could get the goals they have been lacking which would enable them to finish in a respectable position.

Mason was Cardiff City’s highest scorer and that was with a rotating attack which included Kenwyne Jones, Mason himself, Tony Watt, and Idriss Saadi, and therefore if Mason was to get some momentum behind him at Wolves in a consistent game to game basis, he could be the answer to Kenny Jackett’s problems allowing them to climb the table rapidly.

Wolves fans… What do you think? Can Mason fire you into the play-offs? Or will he have little impact? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
