Tom Barkhuizen arrived at Deepdale in November from Morecambe but had to wait until January to play for the Whites due to transfer regulations.
The forward, who can also operate as a winger, slowly eased himself into the side and after making five cameo appearances off the bench, he was handed his first start against Fulham.
North End unfortunately lost that match by three goals to one but the 23-year-old took his opportunity to impress gaffer Simon Grayson by scoring a very neat goal on his full debut.
The Whites then travelled to Derby where Barkhuizen became the hero for the Lancashire side as he scored a dramatic equaliser in the 95th minute to make it two goals in as many starts.
Unsurprisingly, he retained his place in the starting XI on Saturday afternoon to make his full home debut in front of the Deepdale crowd against Reading.
Barkhuizen ran the show. All day long he proved an absolute nightmare to deal with for the away defence and his two goals and one assist led to a man of the match performance.
He showed his incredible finishing ability, a somewhat surprising huge throw-in and most notably his incredible pace which earned Preston their second goal.
If he can keep this form up then he can make himself a main man in this Preston side.
