Louie Barry is one of the brightest teenage prospects in English football at present, and his time with Ipswich Town is only halting his progress.

Yes, senior football is testing, but Barry is in a position where he is struggling to make the matchday squad.

A spell with The Tractor Boys was intended to improve his physicality, mentality, and confidence within a first-team environment, however, he finds himself in a position where making the 18-man squad is not even happening at the moment.

Barry is still an exceptional talent who Aston Villa will still be excited about, but for him to continue on the same upward trajectory he was on during his youth career, then a move to League 2, with a promise of more regular football, should be on the cards.

League 2 is shaping up to be an extremely competitive division this time out, and as a result, the opportunity of learning is great.

There are several fourth-tier outfits that are not currently firing like they hoped to be, and as a result, they might be assessing their January options already.

Bristol Rovers and Salford City have both struggled for consistency this season, whilst the likes of Mansfield Town, Colchester United, and Northampton Town, are struggling for goals.

With Villa considering to recall the 18-year-old, several League 2 clubs might share an interest.

Barry has electric pace, composure in the final third, and intelligence beyond his years, making him an option that could thrive at League 2 level.

Maybe a move to a highly-talented League 1 side might have been a step too far this season, but there is denying the ability that Barry has.

Given his age, a move for Barry is a punt, but given the quality he possesses, he is an option that could certainly cause problems in England's four-tier.

It remains to be seen what happens with Barry at Ipswich. There is still two and a half months until January, meaning that he could still turn a corner at Ipswich, and with pressure on Paul Cook seemingly easing, he might be more willing to give the young forward the game-time needed to continue.
