Coventry City have suffered a catastrophic fall from grace in the past twenty years from an established long-term Premier League club to League One relegation candidates.

Life as a Coventry fan is not easy and it is not anything like it used to be, both on and off the field.

Financial troubles mean that much of the business done by the Sky Blues is reliant on free transfers or loan signings.

While loan signings can be useful - such as the impact of 20-goal striker Adam Armstrong last season - they are equally likely to be unsuccessful.

Coventry were struggling badly this season and stranded at the bottom of the league without the option to bring in any "emergency loans".

Mark Venus has restored some hope, however, and Coventry are now three points off the relegation zone with a favourable goal difference.

The Sky Blues currently have six players on loan at the Ricoh Arena and here is my opinion - as a fan - on what to do with these loanees when their deals expire in January.

Chris McCann

Our hands are tied when it comes to Chris McCann's loan deal.

The 29-year-old will return to parent club Atlanta United in January to play in the MLS for them.

This comes as a huge blow because the experienced former Wigan and Burnley central midfielder has really shown his class for Coventry.

The left-footed Irishman looks composed on the ball and rarely loses possession so he will be a big miss in the middle of the park.

Jack McBean

Coventry City fans

Jack McBean is well on his way to completing a five-month loan spell from LA Galaxy and not making a first team appearance.

The former USA youth international was not first-team ready when he arrived, which begs the question of why waste money on bringing him to the club.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form for the under-23 side and regularly gets on the scoresheet but he is yet to make a first team matchday squad.

When his loan expires, we should probably say goodbye to McBean and use his wages to get in someone who will actually feature for the first team.

Lewis Page

Lewis Page endured a catastrophic start to his loan spell with Coventry, looking out of his depth at League One level.

However the West Ham loanee has won fans over with some fantastic recent displays, including a number of assists.

While question marks still loom over the 20-year-old's physicality, there is no doubt that he possesses a fine left boot and is a competent left back.

His loan expires in January but Ryan Haynes is out injured and there are no other left backs on the books so maybe lengthening his loan until the end of the season would be a good piece of business.

Dan Agyei

After scoring on his debut, Dan Agyei went quiet for a while but he has returned with some impressive performances in the centre forward role.

The Burnley loanee is Mark Venus' preferred man to spearhead the front three, which has worked so effectively in recent games.

The 19-year-old is still very raw but he has immense pace and strength and is clearly very skillful too.

I think we should extend his loan until the end of the season because he does have goals in him and he would benefit from more time as Coventry's main striker.

Andre Wright

Coventry Cityfans

Andre Wright is a similar build to Agyei but he is less effective than his fellow striker.

The West Brom man joined on loan on deadline day but was not the marquee signing Coventry fans were hoping for so perhaps expectations were always going to be beyond Wright.

While the 19-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent, sometimes he doesn't seem bothered or is a bit lazy.

We probably need to say goodbye to Wright when his loan expires in January and look to get a better player in.

Jamie Sterry

Jamie Sterry00

Newcastle sent Jamie Sterry to the Ricoh for a loan spell and he has been a consistent performer at right back so far.

The 20-year-old is confident going forward and defensively solid.

Coventry do not have another natural right back other than Dion Kelly-Evans, who is perhaps not ready for first team action.

Mark Venus (or whoever the manager might be in January) should make it the priority to renew Sterry's loan until the end of the season.

Coventry fans - do you agree with these verdicts? Who else could you get it on loan?
