Opinion: A fan’s verdict on what to do with Coventry’s loan players in January

Coventry City have suffered a catastrophic fall from grace in the past twenty years from an established long-term Premier League club to League One relegation candidates.

Life as a Coventry fan is not easy and it is not anything like it used to be, both on and off the field.

Financial troubles mean that much of the business done by the Sky Blues is reliant on free transfers or loan signings.

While loan signings can be useful – such as the impact of 20-goal striker Adam Armstrong last season – they are equally likely to be unsuccessful.

Coventry were struggling badly this season and stranded at the bottom of the league without the option to bring in any “emergency loans”.

Mark Venus has restored some hope, however, and Coventry are now three points off the relegation zone with a favourable goal difference.

The Sky Blues currently have six players on loan at the Ricoh Arena and here is my opinion – as a fan – on what to do with these loanees when their deals expire in January.
