It is that time of the year again when football fans like myself are anxiously preparing for the start of the Football League season, and once again, it’s shaping up to be yet another enthralling one.
Saturday August 6th. The day where dreams start and memories are created.
I for one will be making the long journey down the M5, a 325 mile round trip to Somerset to watch Notts County encounter Darren Way’s Yeovil Town.
For some, this long, gruelling journey would be a chore, for some it would be a hobby, but for many, it’s now become a way of life.
With the gigantic Newcastle United dropping down to the Championship, led by Rafa Benitez, Grimsby Town returning to the Football League, Burton Albion preparing for life for the first time in the Championship, as Aston Villa look to respond to relegation to the Premier League for the first time in their existence, in emphatic fashion, the Football League never fails to disappoint.
Added with the hotly debated EFL Trophy, the next 10 months will be exhilarating for the 72 teams, ending in May, culminating in devastation or euphoria.
