Cian Harries has recently been invited to train with Liverpool as the Merseyside outfit mull over whether to make a bid for the young defender.

The 19-year-old is a highly thought of young centre back who has already played 15 senior games for Coventry City despite his tender age.

The left-footed defender is comfortable with the ball at his feet as well as being able to compete for aerial balls and make important tackles.

Although Harries is still quite raw, he's got a lot of potential and will undoubtedly get his chance at the top level if he can progress and develop at a reasonable rate.

But for Coventry fans, it's the same old story.

A promising youngster looks set to leave the Ricoh Arena at the hands of a big club waving some money at a youngster.

Here are 2 reasons why Coventry should put their foot down and block this deal.

Future first team star

Cian Harries has already played a handful of first team games despite his young age and looked comfortable most of the time.

He has shown a few flaws in his game, which he will undoubtedly eradicate with time but he is considered a future first team star.

By as early as next season, Harries could be a permanent fixture in the Coventry starting XI if he stays and this is probably best for his development too.

Trends

The problem with Coventry selling off another promising youngster is that it perpetuates a bad trend.

Bassala Sambou was sold to Everton in the summer with James Maddison being shipped off to Norwich on deadline day last winter.

This followed the likes of Callum Wilson and Cyrus Christie in previous years and Coventry could yet sell Jordan Willis and Ben Stevenson this January.

Coventry should put their foot down as they do not want to be known as a selling club.
