Huddersfield Town picked up their first win of the season against Stoke City last night, which has excited many fans of the Terriers.

Second-half substitute Juninho Bacuna scored a late winner to give the Yorkshire club their first win in 20 games and to provide Danny Cowley with his first as manager.

The game brought together the Championship’s bottom two at the Bet365 Stadium with the pair having earned just four points between them.

The Potters will likely feel aggrieved at the result as they had the majority of possession and took 18 shots to the Terriers’ four, but the fact that Bacuna’s goal was the only shot on target from either side tells the story of a match of few real chances.

Cowley’s side climb to 22nd in the table and are now just three points away from safety.

Huddersfield were relegated from the Premier League last season and have made an awful start to the 2019/20 campaign but things do look more promising under the new manager.

They earned just their second point of the season in a one-all draw against Millwall last weekend and have now claimed their first win.

The result should provide the Terriers with a huge boost ahead of the visit of Hull City on Saturday.
